I am an Associate Professor of Chinese at Wake Forest University. My research specializes in Chinese as a second language acquisition and currently focuses on defining, assessing, and developing Chinese syntactic complexity. I am particularly interested in task-based language education, language for specific purposes, and cognitive linguistics. I have published peer-reviewed articles on journals including Applied Linguistics, Global Business Languages, and Reading in a Foreign Language, as well as peer-reviewed book chapters with presses including Routledge, Springer, Cambridge University Press, and Peking University Press. I have served as a reviewer for journals including Language Learning, International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (IRAL), Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching (SSLLT), and Chinese as a Second Language (CSL). Currently, I have been serving on the Editorial Board (2024-27) for Foreign Language Annals and ACTFL Research & Assessment Committee (2023-present). In addition to journal manuscripts, I have also reviewed proposals for conferences including the ACTFL Convention, CLTA Annual Conference, and North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics (NACCL). I have also been serving on the Board of Directors (2023-26) of the Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA), USA. |
